Please
Note
This
tutorial is just a guideline. You can tube your images at any
size (scale) you like, thus creating your own depth and perspective.
Each tube is placed on its own layer so you can always drag
them around with the MOVER tool .
This
tutorial can also be adapted to PSP 6.
Not all images in this tutorial are shown at 100% of the screen
capture.
I have not included the method on how I added perspective shadows
to the tree and elephant as I am not good at that yet!! :))
Let's
Get Started
Remember
to save your work often :-)
I
opened a new image 800 x 600 pixels in size. See the image below
for other settings.
Click
on the tube brush
and select the SKY TUBE from the tube browser window.
I placed my mouse pointer at the following pixel readings
Horizontal = 400
Vertical = 300
You do not have to be this exact, because you are going to drag
the tube around anyway.
Click
on your MOVER tool
and drag the tube image to the top of your canvas.
Go
to LAYERS, ADD NEW raster LAYER. I called my new layer TERRAIN.
This layer will be above the layer where we placed the SKY tube.
You do not have to name your new layers, but it does make it
easier when you want to drag layers around in the layer browser
window. Get into this habit now as it really will be beneficial
when you advance to tutorials that use MANY layers! :))
Find
the TERRAIN TUBE in your tube browser window, and click anywhere
in the middle.
See Fig. 1
Use the mover tool to drag it to your desired position.
See Fig. 2
Add
a new layer. Call it TREE. Select the TREE tube. Reduce the
scale down to 45, leave the step at 200.
Using the MOVER tool
Place the tree anywhere you like.
Add
a new raster layer. Call it ELEPHANT. Select the ELEPHANT tube.
I "tubed" him at 100%. Using
the mover tool
place the elephant to the front of your image.
The elephant is much larger than the tree, giving us the impression
that the tree is further away, thus giving our image some perspective.
Add
a new raster layer. Call it GRASS. Select the GRASS tube. I
tubed the grass at a scale of 45. Place some grass randomly
on top and around the elephants feet, so that it looks as if
he is walking through the grass.
You can use the mover tool to drag the grass to your desired
position as the grass is on its own layer.
Click
on the SELECTION tool, FEATHER = 0, Antialias = Unchecked
Draw
a selection as shown in the image below,or there about. Then
go to IMAGE / Crop to selection.
This
is what our image looks like now.
I
added a border of 10 pixels to this image, then flood filled it
with the OLD PAPER texture, and then added 3D dropped shadows
as seen in the image at the top of this page.

hope you had fun doing this tutorial.
