This tutorial has been reproduced by very kind permission from
its author, Jacs. Her beautiful web site can be seen at www.JacsGraphics.com

The
skill level required is : BEGINNER
This
tutorial uses Paint Shop Pro 7, Super Blade Pro, and a font
called Darrians Frames.
If
you don't have SBP see alternate option =0)
Tools
you'll need:
PSP7: Found HERE
The Font : Grab it zipped from
here or from http://westwood.fortunecity.com/cerruti/445/fonts/frames.html
This
tutorial assumes you have a basic knowledge of PSP. If you need
more help just email
me.
Open
a new image 500 x 500 pixels x 16 million colors with transparent
background.
You
will probably want to go ahead and flood this layer with a dark
background so you can see what you're doing a bit better.
Now
lets add our frame, I am using the letter "a". Ok,
you are going to want to pull it up and out to make it big enough
for a picture, you should have something like this.

Convert
to a raster layer.
Selections:
Select All.. Selections: Float.. now apply a gold super blade
pro effect. If you don't have super blade pro you can do a couple
of things. Either use a gold gradient or a gold pattern and
apply an inner bevel, you'll get pretty much the same effect.
You
should have something like this now
This
is how we are going to select and fill throughout the rest of
the tutorial.
1.
Highlight your frame layer in the layer pallet.

2.
Use your magic wand and hold SHIFT to select several areas.
3.
Add a new layer under the frame and above the temp background
by clicking the little papers pointed to above. Be absolutely
sure the new layer is highlighted.
4.
Go to Selections: Modify: Expand and enter 2 into the little
box that pops up.
5.
Do not deselect. Flood fill with your choice of color and apply
the effects specified.
6.
Deselect.
See?
Easy as pie! Alright so let's make this frame look like "stained
glass"
SAVE
YOUR WORK !!
Add
your new layer and select both sides of the frame itself, not
the flowers yet. Modify the selection and flood fill with the
color of your choice. I am using #CA93E9.

Now
apply an inner bevel using these settings:

Great,
back to our frame layer. We are going to select all of the leaf
areas. Look closely because it can be hard to tell. Don't worry
though because if you miss one you can always fix it up later.

Choose
a nice deep green color for the leaves (it will lighten up after
we add our effects). I am using #158F15. Flood fill each selection
then add an inner bevel using these settings

Now
apply texture using these settings:

Great!
We'll be done before you know it!
SAVE
YOUR WORK !!
Ok,
let's move to our flowers. Choose a color. I am using #EBA9BD.
Select
one or two flower areas, however many you want to be the same
color. Add your new layer, modify the selection and flood fill
like this:
Apply
the same effects as before. Play with the settings to get a
little different look if you like.

Now
just go through your image following the directions above, changing
the colors as you like and playing with the inner bevel and
texture settings.

Great
job!!!
Now
for the final effect. Go to your layers pallet and play with
the transparency of each flower layer to give it more depth.
Merge visible layers and.....
SAVE
YOUR WORK !!
Voila!
A rather easy stained glass frame!
I
hope you enjoyed doing my tutorial :-)
