******************* ->
This is the second attempt at sending this newsletter.
If I filled your email box yesterday with multiple copies
of this newsletter I am SOOOOOO DREADFULLY SORRY. Our normally
well behaved mailing list server went completely BESERK and
got itself into some awful kind of loop .. and before I could
stop it it had sent out THOUSANDS of emails :-((
Rebooted it .. uploaded the configuration again .. and it
now seems to have sorted itself out.
I certainly hope that never happens again.
<- ******************* ->
There
is quite a bit to get through in this issue ... so on with
the show :-)
As
always we would like to welcome everybody who have joined
as members in the last week, and also everyone who has subscribed
to our newsletter/mailing list. We hope you enjoy your stay
here with us.
Apology
to PayPal members
***********************************
I would like to make an apology to everybody who have joined
up via PayPal and who haven't received the last few weekly
newsletters. It is my fault. Our original subscription mechanisms
automatically joined new members to our mailing list, but
at the moment I still handle PayPal subscriptions manually
and I forgot all about adding your email addresses to our
database. Please accept my apologies for that oversight. If
you would like to read those newsletters you may have missed
we have an archive of all past newsletters on the site at
http://www.psp-tubes.com/site_news.asp
Tube News
**************
Barry has just finished uploading another 53 tubes onto the
site.
There
are 6 new themes today - Clocks,
Fences, Frogs, Fruit, Grass and Water.
Tubes
were also added to Birds, Flowers, Nautical, Miscellaneous,
Butterflies, Trees, Palms & Plants, Earth & Sky, and
Sea Critters.
Members can grab them of the "Members Area Newest Tubes"
page where they are all grouped for your convenience.
They
are so hot off the press they are still steaming ... :-))
I
haven't yet managed to build the sample pages in the free
area for these new themes. I will try to have them completed
over the weekend.
Site News
*************
We would love to hear from you what tubes you would like us
to carry. During the week I wrote the code for a voting mechanism
for the site. Members may vote for new
themes, as well as add their votes to themes that have
already been requested. You will find the voting section at
the bottom of the "Members Main
Index" page.
Anybody
may vote for themes that members have already requested,
and the voting for non-members is located at the bottom
of the Free Tubes page. Please feel free to use this
facility as often as you like ... its the only way we know
what you guys are really looking for :-)
I
have not yet brought the new Greeting Card system online ...
there are not enough cards in the system yet. Those that are
already there are EXCELLENT btw ... and many thanks to everyone
who has submitted them. You can go to http://www.psp-tubes.com/cards/show_all_cards.asp
if you would like to see what cards have already been uploaded
- please feel free to upload more.
If
there is already an aniversary card you are very welcome to
upload other aniversary cards .. the bigger the selection
the better the system will be :-)
HTML Email
***************
Starting next week I am hoping to start sending these newsletters
as HTML format rather than the text format they are in now.
This text format is SERIOUSLY boring .. and I am certain the
HTML format will look a LOT more pleasing to the eye.
After
all .. this is a graphics group .. and our email should look
good :-)
KLEZ virus
**************
I want to just visit briefly on the KLEZ virus scourge. Many
of you may be receiving infected emails that look like they
are coming from psp-tubes.com .. I know you must be because
I get them from myself .. lolol. The KLEZ virus is very clever
in that it "spoofs" where it has come from. Basically
it works like this ... machine A gets infected .. the infection
looks up in machine A's address book for a list of victims
.. it then starts sending emails to addresses it finds in
the address book, but uses 1 of the addresses it finds as
the "from" address in the email envelope. Infected
emails arriving from machine A actually look like they have
come from machine B.
Bottom
line .. with the KLEZ virus you never
know where the infected email came from .. its not
from where it looks like.
