Hi Friends and Tubers

A very warm welcome to all our new readers and members that have joined with us since our last newsletter. I hope you enjoy your stay with us and have a load of fun with the tubes that you grab.

When I typed the date into the top of this page it suddenly dawned on me that the first quarter of this year has already gone. Incredible !! I swear time is definitely starting to move faster the older I get :-)

Not too much to report on today .. so lets get the show on the road.

Tube News

We have not added any new themes since the St. Patricks day theme ... but there are about 29 new tubes scattered across various themes ... Flowers, Moons & Stars, Birds, African, Earth & Sky, Rocks, Tiny Tots, Easter, Butterflies, Fireworks, Trees & Stumps, and Miscellaneous.

The "tube team" is currently working primarily on some more Easter tubes. I have sneaked a preview at some of the stuff they have and as always they are great. Keep an eye out for those going up onto the site over the next few days.

All the newest tubes can be quickly and easily grabbed from the "Members Newest Tubes" page in the members area.

General Site News

New member of staff

If you have noticed that a lot of the tubes that have been uploaded in the last 2 weeks are hand drawn then kudos to you for being so observant :-)

We are very happy to announce that we have a new member of staff. Carol has joined with Caroline and Barry in the "tube team".

Carol, who works in an art shop as her "real job", is the first to admit that her computer skills are zero .. however, her incredible skills with pens and watercolors is certainly evident. Yep .. she draws them by hand .. and we scan, clean and tube them :-)

Members can download Carol's tubes from the "Newest Tube Page" in the members area. If you are not yet a member (why not ??) then you can still see many examples of her beautiful work at http://www.psp-tubes.com/new_tubes_added.asp

Her hand-drawn tubes fill a gap that we have always had in our tube selection .. and I hope that all of you who are fans of hand-drawn content enjoy them as much as we do.

Links fixed

After the last newsletter we noticed that there were 2 tubes in the members newest tubes page causing errors. We forgot to upload the tubes :-(

One was a tree and the other was a butterfly. This problem has now been solved.

Featured Site of the Week

Please send me sites that you think deserve to be featured here, and shared with our readers. It does not have to be your own web site.

This week I am going to show you a site that has absolutely nothing to do with PSP at all. It does however address a problem that I think we all have, and that is the issue of SPAM.

I dont know about you ... but I have seen a marked increase in the amount of SPAM email that lands in my inbox over the last couple of months. The SPAM itself is not what worries me ... its the content that I receive that can only be described as downright disgusting.

In my "real job" I am actually an Internet Service Provider .. so I guess the issues of SPAM is something that I spend a lot of time trying to combat.

SAproxy - SPAM killer

One of the latest and greatest tools in the war on SPAM is called Spam Assassin. If you are at all technically minded then you can read about Spam Assassin at their web site .. http://www.spamassassin.org

The site I would like to feature is the SAproxy site.

http://saproxy.bloomba.com

SAproxy is essentially a proxy server that you install on your PC and that acts as an interface between your email program and the underlying Spam Assassin "engine" to detect and delete SPAM. Unfortunately you still need to download the SPAM ... but it never makes it to your inbox ... instead it is routed to a seperate mail folder that you create. You can even set up a mail rule to immediately delete it.

We have been using it here and have found it to be VERY effective. We do get the odd "false positive" where we get something that is not spam but is flagged as spam .. but this is normally the "joke" type emails you get from your friends. You can rescue them from the spam folder :-)

Its FREE ... and its based on open source code.

The documentation on the site explains in detail how to install it for most of the popular email clients.

I hope it works as well for you as it does for me :-)
