July 19, 2002 Issue

Hi Tubers

A very warm welcome to all of our new readers and new members.

In this issue we have lots of new tubes + a new tube theme + some EXCITING news I am leaving until last :-)

My personal thank you to everyone who emailed me with comments and suggestions about our new newsletter format. The response was incredible to say the least. I managed to correspond personally with everyone that had negative feedback, and I wish I could have responded personally to everyone who had positive comments but there were simply to many .. lolol. I have made notes of all suggestions and will implement them appropriately over the coming issues.

Please remember that we are a very friendly crew here, and we welcome all comments, both positive and negative. It's the only way we can improve our service.

There were 18 people that reported they received our newsletter all scrambled down the left margin. The fault proved to be limited to IncrediMail, and the stringent method it handles multipart MIME email headers. I have worked around this and hopefully there should be no more problems like that.

Tube News

There are 72 new tubes added to the site recently.

Some of these tubes are in a new theme called "Household"

The other new tubes are spread across Bugs, Benches and Chairs, Pots and Vases, Tiny Tots, Birds, Leaves, African, Flowers, Trees, Grass, Anchors, Fruit and Nautical. As per usual all of the new tubes have been installed on the "newest member tubes" page for your convenience :-)

The African theme has been renamed to "African and other Animals", and the Fruit theme has been renamed to "Fruit and Vegetables". The Mixed theme has been removed, and the tubes that were in there have been relocated to appropriate categories.

We have temporarily removed the "new themes" suggestion from the voting section so we can catch up with what is already there. Please continue to vote on the tube themes that have already been suggested.

Its nice to see that we also have a new "tube of the week" from the Butterflies collection. That Fireworks tube was starting to look boring after being "tube of the week" for 4 weeks on the trot :-)

New Tutorials Coming

We have 3 new tutorials that Barry has put together. They are entitled "Organising Tubes in PSP7", "Painting with Tubes", and the last one answers one of the most common email questions we get, "What is a Tube". I am hoping to have them completed and uploaded by Monday, so you can keep an eye out for them :-)

General Site News

Life Membership option discontinued

Our life membership option came to an end on schedule. All links on the web site have been amended to the new "annual membership" that has taken its place. Complete details can be found here.

Fault/Problem reporting

We are VERY responsive to problem reports and try to have solutions out as fast as possible ... but remember that we live in South Africa and are probably sleeping when you email us your problem.
1 email is sufficient. If you haven't got a reply in 12 hours then you are welcome to follow-up with another.

I am busy putting together a FAQ containing most of the questions and answers we have encountered so far. Also, please remember you can recover a forgotten login and password automatically on the Members Login page by entering in your email address and letting our server send you your info immediately.

Lifers Links Page

The new page of links to our life members web sites has been uploaded. It has replaced the old links page and can be found here. I will revamp the old links page and put it back up on the site soon.

The number of links on here is a fraction of the number of life members .. so there must be many web sites that are not on there yet. I still have the details for 1 or 2 to include. If you are a life member and you would like us to include your web site on this page please send me your details.

PayPal Integration

We are also in final testing with our new PayPal integration. So all going well the next few days will be the last where new members who signup via our PayPal payment gateway will have to wait for their logins and passwords to be done here manually. It should be completely automated very soon, and logins and passwords will be sent immediately after successful signup :-)

Featured Site of the Week

This is a new section of our newsletter where we would like to showcase web sites of real interest to our readers. Please send me URL's of sites that you think deserve to be featured here, and shared with our readers. It does not have to be your own web site. It is completely free for non-commercial sites, and can get you some valuable exposure.

Hugs for Homeless Animals

I am going to break with the norm here and mention a site that has absolutely nothing to do with PSP or graphics. It is one that is close to many of our hearts though I guess (Caroline and I have 10 cats .. each one started life as an orphan and was hand reared).

Lin's email to me ...

"Hi Alan, here is a site that I recommend for your site of the week. They do some awesome work for pets without homes. It would be great to see their url listed in your news letter. It is the Snuggles Project and they ask for people to make blankets for animals left in animal shelters. Thanks Lin."

Nice site Lin, and thank you for the suggestion. I personally think that not nearly enough is done for animals in need.

Tip of the Week

This is also a new addition to our weekly newsletter. We will feature here any tip or trick that will make our readers use of PSP a little easier/faster. Please send me your suggestions. If we publish it you will win for yourself 30 days access to our members area :-)

Todays tip deals with masks and was sent to us by Cody.

"This is a good tip for using a mask. When you add your mask, go straight to selections and click on from mask then go to delete mask. This will keep your mask selected for you to emboss, color, shadow or whatever you would like to do with it. I do use this all of the time and I always pass this on to all of the pspgroups I'm in."

... and many thanks for passing it on to us as well Cody.

The EXCITING News

Earlier in the year we mentioned that we were planning on commissioning our affiliate program in quarter 3 of this year. The good news is that we have gone ahead with implementing it and it is currently in final testing.

We think we have put together an affiliate program that we can be proud of, and that everyone will benefit from by joining.

The program is a 2-tier one, and we are giving away 30% of our income.

On the first tier we offer a whopping 25% commission on all sales that are referred directly from your web site.

On the second tier we offer an additional 5% commission on all sales made by all sub-affiliates that join as a result from your web site referal.

I have put together a web page with more info on it about the program. Please give it a read .. it can be found here.

There is no reason why some of these magnificent web sites I visit have to be hosted on free web hosts anymore .. good commissions mean everyone can afford good hosting :-)))
