Hi Tubers Well yet another month is fading quickly behind us ... and down here in South Africa the days are already getting longer. The sun is really on its way back southwards :-) A very warm welcome to our new members, and to our many new readers, that have joined since my last newsletter. I hope you have a lot of fun with the tubes you grab from our site. This weeks newsletter (which was actually supposed to be last weeks one .. but thanks to a faulty phone line at home I couldn't send it) comes to you on International Womans Day, and its a public holiday here. So .. if you are an International Woman .. a very happy day to you tomorrow :-) Plenty to cover in this issue .. including, new themes and tubes, new tutorials, affiliate program news, and the announcement of our very first competition. |

Tube News Since I last chatted to you there have been 48 new tubes uploaded. These new tubes are in Bugs, Benches and Chairs, Birds, Miscellaneous, Household, African, Trees, Frames, and Flowers. In addition to those, there are 19 new frames on the site that we have made available in the frame format (.pfr files) for members who collect frames. As I write this newsletter, Barry is busy uploading another 39 tubes. There are 2 new themes - Hats and Caps, and Gems. The balance of these newest tubes are in Benches and Chairs, Household, Mixed, African, Sea Critters, Earth and Sky, and Frogs. Keep an eye out for these to be available for downloading during the course of the day :-) As usual .. all 86 of these tubes (and the frames) will be collated on the Members Newest Tubes Page .. which is now a little larger than normal. There are also 3 new tutorials that we have written and uploaded. The most recent is on 'Framing Images' .. and details the procedure on using PSP frame files (.pfr files) to place frames around your images. This marks a small divergence from our traditional 'tube focus'.. but we hope most of our members will enjoy them. The other 2 tutorials are on 'Tube Painting' .. and 'What is a Tube?'. Have fun with them :-) |

General Site News New Affiliate Program is Rolling ALL members ... past and present ... should have received their invitations to join in our new affiliate program by now. If you are a member (or ex-member) and you have not received your invitation please email me and I will send you one right away. This is a very unique opportunity to generate some income off your own web site, by providing high quality PSP related content (which after all is what your visitors came to your site for anyway) rather than the boring old link exchange programs, cheaper long distance calls, etc etc. I encourage everyone with web sites to have a good look at it. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask .. I am here to help you :-) If you have a PSP or graphics related web site that is receiving a fair amount of traffic then you are an IDEAL candidate for the affiliate program, and you can certainly expect to generate some revenue. If your web site is not PSP related then you can still benefit financially from the program .. but, probably just not to the same extent. Some of our life members have been using the program for the last few weeks. Our very first affiliate to generate her first commission did so after only 4 referals from her web site .. so you dont necessarily need to be doing high traffic to earn some commission. PayPal Integration Completed Our full integration with PayPal servers is completed. We no longer have to generate logins and passwords manually. If you pay for your membership via the PayPal gateway ... logins and passwords will be sent to you immediately. 2007 Expiry for Life Membership Answered Over the last few months I have had a few enquiries from life members why their membership expiry date is set in 2007 (they got this info from the "lost password" feature on the members login page). In our database the expiry date field is mandatory, and cannot be left blank .. so I had to put something in there. 2007 seemed a long way away at the time, so I put that in. When we get closer to 2007 i'll change it to something else further in the future. Your life membership won't expire in 2007 :-) You May be Eligible for Life Membership Still If you were a current member on 1 July 2002 .. and you wish to renew your membership when it expires .. you are still eligible for life membership if you wish. Please just email me and I will send you the links you need. |

PSP Help and Hints This website was suggested to us by Georgina .. who mentions that she finds it a very useful resource. I paid a visit to the site myself and there is indeed a lot of information there that would benefit PSP'ers of any skill level. The counter on the bottom of this site indicates approx. 80000 visitors in almost 2 years. I cannot imagine why this would be so low for a site offering this amount of content. So we'll give it a shot in the arm :-)
BTW. After my last featured site (the Hugs for Homeless Animals) I received a deluge of URLs and requests to feature similar sites. It is heartening to see how many of our members are involved in the care of needy animals. I have kept the URLs that were sent and I'll slip them in from time to time :-) |

Selection Tips When you are making your selections, SHIFT+selection adds to the current selection. CTRL-Selection, will remove from the current selection. Looks simple enough .. but you would be surprised how many people do not know this one :-) |

Our First Competition We would like

The Task Write a comprehensive PSP tutorial on adding perspective shadows to images. For example .. consider the image at the top of our tutorial about tube painting .. we are looking for a tutorial that would detail how to add shadows to the elephant and the tree. You dont have to use this same image .. you can use whatever image you wish for your tut. You may write the tutorial yourself .. in which case you will win the entire prize. or You may submit a tutorial that has been written by somebody else, and then share the prize with the author. In this case we will require confirmation from the actual author that permission has been given to submit the tutorial. IMPORTANT : By entering this competition you agree that although you will retain the copyright to your work (and be fully and completely credited with it) we are given the sole unconditional right to host the winning tutorial, in its entirety, on our own server ie. the winning tutorial may ONLY be hosted on our site .. and nowhere else. Who May Enter Anybody ... members and non-members. You may also submit more than 1 entry and be eligible to win more than 1 prize. Judging We will approach an impartial person.. somebody well recognised and widely respected in PSP circles, and not associated with our web site at all .. to act as the judge for all entries. The judges name will be publicly announced before the closing date of the competition. The judges decision will be final. The Closing Date All entries are to be zipped together into a single winzip file .. and to be emailed to webmaster@psp-tubes.com and to be received by no later than 10am GMT on 30 September 2002.
