Do you know that while you are using your computer (yes .. right now) that the vast majority of its computing power is DOING ABSOLUTELY NOTHING ??

Did you know that it is possible to harness the SPARE POWER in your computer to assist in the fight against AIDS, or MAD COW DISEASE, or AlZHEIMERS DISEASE ??

The University of Stanford currently has a very interesting project called FOLDING@HOME whereby they are simulating the folding of proteins - and they need our help. They harness the SPARE POWER in the CPU's of thousands upon thousands of home computers to assist in "crunching the numbers". Kind of like making 1 humungous sized computer from all of our little ones.

Visit http://folding.stanford.edu to download and install their VERY SIMPLE piece of software, and read a lot about the experiment (the biology of it is certainly wayyyyy over my head ... LOLOL).

I have been running the software for a while now and have found that -

• It DOES NOT interfere with the operation of my PC at all.
• It DOES NOT make my computer any slower at all because it uses "spare" processor time.
• It works best with computers that have a "permanent connection" to the Internet, like cable. Then you can leave it running even while you are sleeping :-)
• It Operates COMPETELY in the background .. I do absolutely nothing, but I know that my PC is being used for something VERY IMPORTANT to mankind.

We have created a "TEAM" on their web site. Our team name is PSP-TUBES_dot_COM and our TEAM number is 2781. We can have up to 1000 members in a team .. AND ... I am hoping to interest a whole bunch of PSP'ers (thats YOU .. :-) ) to join with me in this team and lets work together to help.

All you need to do is to install the software, pick a nickname for yourself, and enter 2781 as your team number when it asks.

If you join the team with us then drop me an email ... I would love to know that you are onboard :-)

Tell your friends about us to .. the more the merrier. Who knows, the cures may be discovered by one of our computers.
